Kids and Scuba Diving: Amazing Opportunities

Boy Scouts Scuba Diving

Los Angeles, CA – February 21, 2014 –Can you remember a time when you were a kid and tried something that had you giddy with excitement? Trying something new can spark curiosity and inspiration in amazing ways, and for kids, who are encouraged to focus and learn in school everyday, a hands-on experience is one of the best ways to make all that learning come alive. At Malibu Divers, we love scuba diving and here are a few ways that we think learning to scuba dive can inspire kids today:

  • Science in Action: Learning to scuba dive involves a dynamic understanding of the human body. How is the body impacted by water pressure? What does it take to create appropriate buoyancy to be effective and efficient when scuba diving? What does the human body need to breathe and how does that happen in scuba diving? The lessons are endless with kids learning about physics, biology and so much more.
  • Environmental Stewardship: The more kids learn about the natural environment, the more they can understand how choices we make impact the world that we live in. Getting face to face with amazing sea life and beautiful kelp beds creates a connection to the natural world that doesn't come from dive theory or the books.
  • Sense of Adventure: Learning to scuba dive opens a world of adventure for kids. Scuba diving involves understanding risks and working with a partner or team, and developing a lifetime love of scuba diving can take you all over the world, opening opportunities to learn about different countries, cultures and ocean habitats.  Once they start diving, you will see even further benefits to continuing their Scuba education.
If you want to foster a love of learning in kids, there is nothing like a scuba diving experience to open them to a whole new world. Not a Boy Scout (or a member of a Venture Crew), we also offer a wide range of programs to introduce kids and families to scuba diving. We provide a number of popular Boy Scout Scuba Diving programs and other enriching summer camp opportunities too.
