Get Involved & Stay Informed
on Protecting our Marine LifeIt seems hard to believe that it's taken this long to get all the relevant parties together to design and manage the protection of our marine life, but better late than never or too late as the saying goes! We clean our homes, yards and offices but what are we doing for our beaches and oceans? "THE MARINE LIFE PROTECTED AREAS (MLPA) INITIATIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. AN UPDATE."
Our local Malibu Surfing Association (MSA), Michael Blum, President dropped by to invite us and our clients to MSA's next meeting on March 10th at 8 pm (following their General Mtg at 7 PM) at Duke's restaurant. They have invited:
Sarah Abramson Sikich (Heal the Bay) and Stacie Fejtek (Santa Monica Baykeeper)
MLPA, the Marine Life Protected Act takes place along the coast of California is implemented to form this country's first
statewide network of marine protected areas. Created in response to
long-term overfishing and new pressures from pollution and climate
change, the MLPA brings together diverse stakeholders—fishermen,
conservationists, scientists, government, divers, and ocean-loving
citizens—in a process to set aside marine refuges akin to our country's
national parks.
