WORLDS LONGEST SCUBA DIVE?
Attempting to claim the Guinness World Record(TM) for the world's 'Longest open, cold saltwater SCUBA dive', this team is ready and set for October 10 & 11, 2009.
It's an amazing feat for a good cause. Their website details the equipment to be used and how to make a donation.
How do they do it? Well, it's not easy. Because they will be at no less than 11 meters or about 33 feet, now, quick check your dive table...??!!??
Rest assured, the plan calls for the last hour before surfacing spent breathing 100% oxygen. Imagine what their dive profile looks like and their nitrogen load for 40 hours.
When asked how will they eat - they responded, "We have a specially prepared dive nutrition pack". Two normal, good-sized men, munching on a nutrition pack underwater, yummm...well, anything is possible for 40 hours...but look out afterward!
What happens if they suddenly really need to use the restroom? Well, per Declan Devane, "...(they) have all
eventualities covered!" Sounds like these guys are ready!
Please support them and their cause!
